Most people drive through Wiscasset on their way to somewhere else. During tourist season, it's a traffic jam, and no one wants to get out of the car and explore. On rainy days in the summer, the traffic lets up enough so that parking spaces open up, and there are hidden gems to be found, such as the Sunken Garden, which looks especially lush in the rain:
