Wow.......there's at least one toy for every day here............
Granted, there are two boys in this family, but still.......(and that's just one wall of the playroom!).

STORM MOVING OUT
It was nice to see the storm making its departure...
....but we knew it wouldn't be for long. There were periods of sun and showers this morning, and it's snowing again this afternoon. No significant accumulation expected, unfortunately.

LOVE PLAYING WITH COLOR!
It seems as if the Photo of the Day is morphing into the Photo of the Week, but I'm trying to keep up. I loved making the colors in this one, probably because it's raining cats and dogs, and the weather's making it a really depressing day:

FIRST LIGHT
Yikes! missed the second day in a week! Bad, bad.....
I know that Portland Head Light is the most-photographed lighthouse in the country. But here's a shot, not of the lighthouse itself, but of the old bell , taken at sunrise (does that make up for it?). The pink light made the copper glow:

SPRING IS COMING
At least in the supermarket, which is where these daffodils were found. It won't be long, so they say, before we'll see them in the ground, but I'm not holding my breath. There are still snowstorms and cold snaps in the wings...brrrr.
I am going to make an effort to stop photographing flowers for now, and try to see photographs in everything else around me - in season....

OOPS -
Drat! Missed a day! Oh, well, I'm still doing much better than I have before. Maybe I was just disappointed in the snowstorm being a non-event. We have less snow than we did before; in fact, it was 45° today :-(
Anyway, here's one I liked playing with. Sort of glamorizes the wrenches:

FIZZLED OUT
When the forecaster called for snow today, I thought we were going to get some good, snow-shoe-able snow. But no....unless I wake up tomorrow morning to the 6"+ that was predicted. This photo was taken when the snow first started, with big fat flakes falling down:
Maybe tomorrow I'll have something better to post......sigh......

PHOTO A DAY - TONIGHT'S SUPPER
First a disclaimer: I'm not a food photographer, in case there's any doubt after seeing the following image. I know that the soup I'm making for supper is delicious; can't quite figure out how to make it look that way in a photograph! LOL. Note to self: pursue this further...

THE THRONE
No, not that kind of throne....this is the prime spot for relaxing in the barn. I had wandered around, taking pictures of the calves (cute faces!) and some of the cows, but nothing really grabbed me. Then I saw this old chair, and I knew it was my photo of the day. It occupies a cow stall all by itself. It's the place for serious conversations; a lot of business decisions have been reached by those sitting in it. It's seen a lot of cows (and people) come and go, and will probably see a lot more.

REALLY RICH
I LOVED the rich colors of this rose! And, being a macro fan, I couldn't resist getting as close as I could. This is actually a miniature rose; you could probably fit ten of them into the space this picture occupies. But it's no less beautiful than its full-size counterparts:
One of the unfortunate things about publishing the Photo of the Day so early is the fact that maybe I'll find something else today to shoot that's much better. Oh, well, right now this is it!

THE TUNNEL
Hey - I've made it to Day 2! Which is one day longer than my previous attempts. After assessing the time available each day for this project, I've decided my more creative efforts will just have to take place on the weekends.
Today's subject is my cat, Bo. His favorite toy is a crinkly nylon tunnel (best $8 I've ever spent!), and he likes to wait at one end while I dangle a toy at the other. Then he rushes through and grabs it. Only this time my camera was at the other end, and I guess he didn't think it was interesting enough to chase after. So he just waited....

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
A photo a day......how many times have I started out the new year vowing to do this? Too many to count! Anyway, I'm beginning again; my year will just go to February 10, 2011.
Today's photo pictures the source of much aggravation to me; a new phone system designed by techno-geeks who are more fascinated with technology than real-world function. There are lots of "features" on this machine, all of which are tributes to technology rather than practical application. If just ONE person on the design committee had been someone who was actually a switchboard operator, I think we would see a much different beast on the desk!
Now that that little rant is out of the way, maybe tomorrow will bring a more interesting photo of the day!
